Sheep-Harney Elementary School was built in 1940 as part of the Works Projects Administration. It is a building noted for its exceptional Art Deco details. In 1988, a new wing was was added to the west. The school was named for two long time educational leaders from Elizabeth City, S. L. Sheep and Hattie Harney.
At SHES, we believe that education is the key to unlocking a bright future. Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a comprehensive and enriching academic program that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning.
At the heart of our school is a strong sense of community. We believe in open and transparent communication between all stakeholders—students, parents, teachers, and staff. ECPPS and Pasquotank County Library are partnering to offer free weekly meal kits for children 18 and under through the SUN Meals Program. Kits include 7 days of meals - no ID or registration required.
